The weigh-in checklist

Had sweets last night and now the scale's up? Don't panic. Here's how to weigh in so one morning can't fool you, and how to read your week instead.

Why the morning jumps

Three things move the scale overnight, and none of them is fat.

  1. Food that's still in you

Last night's dinner and dessert are still on their way through. They weigh something until they're gone.

  2. Water held with the sugar

Your body stores carbs together with water. A sweet or salty evening can add water weight by morning, and it usually drops again over the next few days.

  3. One night barely changes your week

If it's most nights for a few weeks, that's when it starts to show, on your weekly average and on your waist too. That's the signal worth watching.

Your weigh-in checklist

Same routine every morning, so the only thing that changes is you.

Let Milens do the averaging

Log your morning weight and Milens turns it into a weekly average and draws your weeks as a line, so a single high morning doesn't look like a trend. Your data stays on your phone.
